Reminisce Is Reader Written
Here's How You Can Contribute
WE LIKE TO SAY that Reminisce and Reminisce EXTRA have the largest magazine staff that’s ever been assembled—over 1 million writers and photographers! Of course, we’re talking about our subscribers, who send us great personal memories and photos from their family albums.
If you’d like us to consider your story, short memory and/or photos, or are interested in illustrating nostalgic stories and want to send a sample drawing, please read the following guidelines:
- We do not publish fiction. Instead, we want folks to tell us their true-life stories—personal reminiscences of years gone by.
- Published memories are edited, and in many cases, only an excerpt of the original memory is used.
- Please print on the first page of each item or manuscript your name, address, daytime phone number and E-mail address, if available, and supply the same on the back of photos. Due to high volume, we cannot read stories longer than 750 words.
- Don’t forget to note the year and location of any memory or photograph.
- To guard against the rare chance of loss or damage to cherished original photos, you may want to make a duplicate or first send a photocopy. (If we can use the image, an original or sharp reprint or E-mail j-peg will be requested.) Please identify the people in any photographs you send.
- If you want a response and/or your material returned, be sure to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope. (Submissions without SASEs are equally considered and appreciated, but a response will not be sent unless the item involved is published.)
- If you enclose an SASE with your submission, please allow at least 3 months for a response.
- Due to our small staff size and large mail volume, we cannot respond to most inquiries and letters.
- We receive a lot of mail but can publish only a limited amount. Submissions will also be considered for use on the Reminisce Web site. By submitting material for publication, you grant Reiman Media Group, Inc., its parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and licensees unrestricted use of the material, including your name, hometown and state/province. We reserve the right to modify, reproduce and distribute the material in any medium and in any manner. We may contact you via phone, E-mail or mail regarding your submission.
- Send your material to Reminisce, 5927 Memory Lane, Greendale WI 53129 or E-mail it to editors@reminisce.com. (Please be sure to address your envelope or the subject line of your E-mail to a specific department or category, whenever possible, such as “Motoring Memories” or “ReminiSent.”)
“Staffers” Receive a Chevy
If we print your material, we’ll give you a classic red ’57 Chevy bank (pictured below) as our way of saying, “Thanks for joining our staff.”
Keep in mind that we don’t send out this model car for every item we print—it’s given in appreciation for only the larger items, such as one of the cherished photos, or reminiscences a few paragraphs in length, or a feature-length memory.
Made from sturdy metal, this tabletop model has a “secret” slot in the trunk and can be used as a handy coin bank.
The staffers who receive this sharp red “ragtop” often say they love displaying it in a special place on their bookshelf, mantel or coffee table.
Remember that you can’t buy this tabletop Chevy anywhere, so if you would like to try and earn one, send in your contribution!
